Shark attack? 'I will be back in the water ASAP!'

A SURFER in his 60s is vowing to return to the water "ASAP" after being mauled by a shark on the New South Wales coast - he is just waiting for his leg to heal.

Colin Rowland was attacked by a shark measuring between 2.5m and 3m while surfing at Seven Mile Beach, south of Forster, Nine News reports.

The attack on Thursday left the 65-year-old "with severe puncture wounds" to his foot, leg and arm.

His board was also snapped in half.
 

Mr Rowland's son James posted a photo of his dad to Facebook just hours after the attack.

In it he tells friends and family that his dad won't be kept out of the water.

"Just letting everyone know dads doing pretty dam good considering!" James wrote.

"And he wants thank everyone for their love and support . We are still waiting for the surgery on this foot but he'll be back in the water ASAP xxx."
