Seeney eyeing Federal seat left empty by Warren Truss
FORMER Queensland deputy premier Jeff Seeney has officially thrown his hat in the ring for the federal seat of Wide Bay.
Mr Seeney, who has served as the member for Callide since 1998, announced he was considering a switch to federal politics on Tuesday afternoon.
Outgoing deputy prime minister Warren Truss announced his retirement from politics last week.
Mr Seeney, who served as Campbell Newman's deputy in the one-term LNP government, has recently returned from medical leave and said he was "certainly interested in continuing the work of Warren Truss at a federal level as I have had a lifelong commitment to regional Queensland".
"I will talk to party officials and my LNP colleagues and make a decision when nominations are opened," he told Fairfax Media.
