FORMER Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher is lucky he was worth more than $860 million before his horrific ski accident on December 29, 2013.

Schumacher was in a coma for six months after he hit his head on a rock despite wearing a helmet.

The Daily Mail is reporting that a 15-strong medical team is looking after the seven-time world champion at his home in Geneva, Switzerland.

The news outlet reports that the bill for the 47-year-old's care has reached $23.6 million - about $151,000 per week.

Schumacher's current condition is not known publicly.

His manager Sabine Kehm said last month: "Michael's health is not a public issue, so we will continue to make no comment in that regard.”
