School opens up for Spring Fair

THE ever-popular Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School Spring Fair is on again from 10am-3pm this Saturday at the school in McGettigans Lane, Ewingsdale.

Each year the school opens its grounds to the children, parents, teachers, friends, locals and visitors and invites them to join together to celebrate the return of spring with a day of music, fun, food and festivities.

This year's theme, The Up-Cycled Enchanted Forest, will see the school grounds converted into an enchanted forest through the creative use of pre-used materials.

Children and parents are invited to dress up as their favourite enchanted character. Fairies, gnomes and pixies and dwarfs are all welcome.

Everyone is encouraged to create their own costume by reusing anything and everything that is natural or second-hand, and they are also invited to join in the whole fair fun parade at 2pm.

This year's fair will also celebrate the opening of the school's first permaculture garden, known as The Food Forest.

The songwriters' competition, now in its fifth year, will also be on. The fair is a great opportunity to take a look around the school.

There is on-site parking or a complementary shuttle bus which leaves from Ewingsdale Sports Centre.
