School hit by post protector thefts

THIEVES have stolen eight padded safety goal post protectors from Byron Bay's St Finbarr's Catholic Primary School and the school has appealed to the community to help recover them.

Principal John Wilson saw the last of the protectors stolen last week but was unable to catch the thief with the others stolen over the past couple of months.

"These protectors are essential for the safety of our students, particularly when playing sport," said Mr Wilson.

"They are expensive to replace and we would really appreciate the community keeping an eye out for them."

The large blue protectors are used to wrap around goal posts to ensure children don't hurt themselves if they bump into them.

If anyone has any information, contact the police or the school on 6685 8784.
