Saddle up Byron

A FUN day and lots of exciting racing – that's the promise from the Ballina Jockey Club.

Club chairman Robert Pitt said organisers were looking forward to hosting residents of Byron Bay and surrounding districts at the 127th Byron Bay Cup this Sunday.

He said nominations for the Cup race expected to reveal some very talented horses.

The jockey club is selling tickets in Byron Bay, which include bus transport to and from the racecourse and gate entry.

Tickets are $15 each and available from the Byron Shire News, the Byron Bay Services Club and the Park Hotel which is sponsoring the Cup.

Hotel licensee Andrew Sheridan said the hotel was delighted to be sponsoring the race and was expecting a large number of patrons to make the trip to Ballina.

A calcutta will be held at the hotel on Saturday from 5pm.

Sunday's Cup will also feature fashions on the field, a fashion parade and entertainment.
