Rumours heating up over Google smart watch being ready soon

BOTH Mashable and 9to5google.com have hooked onto rumours that Google isn't just working on a smart phone, it's close to being ready.

Credibility for the rumours come from Google's September purchase of Wimm, a company already in the business of making smart watches based on Google's Android OS.

Given the development cycle of Google Glass, however, ready could mean that they're ready to show off a working concept build that won't be available on the market for years.

Most speculation focuses on the watch using the Google Now service as its base of functionality, with Now's predictive updates and information services being either embedded or streamed from an existing Android phone.

According to Android developer Artem Russakovskii, the watch will be marketed as a Nexus watch, codenamed 'Gem' and will be announced October 31st.

Nothing yet on a release date.
