Blake Austin stamps class for Raiders with early hat-trick

A HAT-trick to Raiders five-eighth Blake Austin helped his team triumph 36-22 over the Knights at GIO Stadium.

Austin notched up a hat-trick after just 15 minutes, all but consigning Newcastle to its fate so early in the game.

Could Austin be the Blues' answer to their halves woes?

His first came after running the ball on the last tackle in the second minute, putting Jordan Rapana through, before backing up to score.

Six minutes later he was there to back up another bust, collecting a Paul Vaughan pass before wrong-footing Knights fullback Kurt Gidley.

He got his third by chasing through a Sam Williams grubber to dot down and all but seal the match early.

Raiders forward Josh Papalii then followed up his impressive game for the Maroons on Wednesday night, with a double on a cold night.

HOW THEY SCORED:

RAIDERS 36 (B Austin 3, J Papalii 2, J Croker tries; J Croker 6 goals) def KNIGHTS 22 (A Uate 2, J McManus, K Snowden tries; T Roberts 3 goals). At GIO Stadium last night.
