RSPCA investigates Happy Paws Haven over cat complaints

A COMPLAINT about the health of the cats housed at Eatonsville shelter Happy Paws Haven has sparked an RSPCA investigation.

An RSPCA spokeswoman confirmed its inspectors, accompanied by veterinarians, attended the shelter on Thursday morning and examined the animals.

Happy Paws owner Sally Rogers said she had a good working relationship with the RSPCA, and happily worked with the inspectors while they spent about four hours inspecting felines at the site.

She said they visited as the result of a complaint about condition of the cats.

"Whenever there is a complaint about anyone in terms of animals to the RSPCA they have to follow it up," Ms Rogers said.

"They came to investigate a complaint about cat health issues yesterday, and we worked quite happily together while here on site. They did as they had to do.

"There are one or two things Happy Paws will need to do in regards to taking a few of the animals to the vet for a check-up, but (despite rumours) no animals were taken away or euthanised."

The spokeswoman confirmed no animals were removed from the property.

"As our investigation is ongoing at this stage no additional information can be made available," she said.
