Ross Aloisi facing season-ending ban

BRISBANE Roar assistant coach Ross Aloisi is facing the prospect of a season-ending ban for his altercation with Adelaide United counterpart Jacobo Ramallo.

Aloisi was yesterday cited under Football Federation Australia's national code of conduct after being accused of striking Ramallo in the Coopers Stadium tunnel in the fiery aftermath of the Roar's 2-1 loss to the Reds on Sunday.

Roar football director Craig Moore was also found to have breached the code for comments directed at referee Stephen Lucas after the final whistle.

Moore was infuriated with Lucas's stoppage-time decisions to send off Roar goalkeeper Michael Theo and award the Reds a decisive penalty.

The Roar have until 4pm Wednesday to submit show cause applications to FFA over the Aloisi and Moore incidents.

Roar managing director Mark Kingsman said in Moore's case, there would be little the club could do about reprimands, fines and/or suspensions.

"In the heat of the moment, Craig made some inappropriate comments. Craig's not denying what he said," he said.

In terms of Aloisi, Kingsman said the Roar would submit "their side of the story".

Aloisi's punishment could very well end his season.

"We need to take our time and not let emotion get involved," said Kingsman, who will meet with Aloisi on Tuesday.

"We need to look at all the facts and so do the FFA."

Aloisi was sent out a side exit on his return to Brisbane Airport to avoid waiting media upon the Roar's return from Adelaide.

It's understood Aloisi had scans yesterday on his left shoulder, after he was allegedly manhandled by a security guard in the tunnel following his altercation with Ramallo.

Adelaide United chairman Greg Griffin on Monday said his club would not lodge an official complaint against Aloisi.

"We have a very good relationship with the Roar," Griffin said.

"FFA will investigate what happened and deal with it."

Theo has been banned for two matches for elbowing Adelaide defender Dylan McGowan in the face after he grabbed the goalkeeper in trying to stop him releasing the ball.

Kingsman suggested the club would appeal the length of Theo's ban.

Apart from Theo, the Roar will also be without skipper Matt McKay for Saturday night's home clash against Melbourne Victory.

McKay suffered a knee injury in the loss to Adelaide, and there are genuine fears that he could miss the rest of the season with medial ligament damage.
