Roll the dice

FOR the first time in its 100-year history, the Bangalow A&I Hall will be transformed into gaming rooms on September 17 to raise money for an extension to Heritage House.

To be called Bangalow Royale, the hall will come complete with a casino-like atmosphere where elegantly dressed patrons will be able to play roulette, blackjack, poker and craps.

"We believe this is the first time a gaming night like this (to raise money for a non-profit organisation) has been held in Bangalow, and since the word of our plans got out, the response has been very enthusiastic," Wendy Grissell said.

"On hand will be expert professional guidance for beginners, or in case you've forgotten any of the rules, or if you've never played these games before."

The aim of the event is to raise money to go towards a 450-square-metre extension to Heritage House - the Deacon Street location of the Bangalow Historical Society's museum and tearooms.

The additional room will allow the society to hold more functions and private events than currently possible in the limited veranda space.

The event will feature troubadours, live entertainment and lucky door prizes, as well as a light supper.

"People are really looking forward to having the opportunity to dress up in their elegant evening wear," Wendy said.

Tickets cost $45 and can be bought at Barebones Heritage House or from Wendy Grissell 0447 580 920.
