Riverfire to end Brisbane Festival with extravagant display

QUEENSLAND'S iconic Riverfire event this weekend will light up the city in a pyrotechnic explosion of colour to end three weeks of Brisbane Festival fun.

There will be aerial displays from RAAF Super Hornets and helicopters all afternoon above Brisbane before the fireworks extravaganza at 7pm.

There will be bridge and road closures all over the city with public transport recommended to get the 500,000 expected spectators the CBD and South Bank's best vantage points.

Brisbane Festival recommends the South Bank parklands, Victoria Bridge, Dock St, Kangaroo Point cliffs the city riverwalk, Captain Burke Park and Wilson's Lookout.

Riverfire at South Bank is an alcohol-free event.
