Rezoning focus of Bangalow meeting

Bangalow residents will be able to voice their concerns at plans to rezone land in the town for residential purposes at a public meeting on Monday.

The proposed rezoning affects six parcels of land located at Granuaille Crescent/Rankin Drive, Ballina Street, Thomas Street/Charlotte Street and Parrot Tree Place. The sites would be rezoned to 2(a) residential as exhibited in the public exhibition proposal on exhibition until May 26.

Byron Council’s executive manager of planning, Ray Darney, said the meeting, starting at 5 pm at the Bangalow Bowls and Sports Club, would be an opportunity for residents to discuss the planning proposal and any concerns they might have.

Written submissions on the proposal should be addressed to The General Manager, PO Box 219, Mullumbimby NSW 2482, clearly marked ‘Submission – Bangalow Planning Proposal’.

Mr Darney said that once community submissions had been reviewed and presented to the council, the land would be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning under the gateway process for rezoning.
