Input sought for draft plan

BYRON Council has developed a 10-year draft community strategic plan and wants to find out if residents agree with the outcomes and strategies.

Chairperson of the council's Community Strategic Plan project reference group, Cr Simon Richardson, said the plan had been developed following community consultation, and identified a Byron Shire vision and aspirations.

Cr Richardson said the draft plan was available and the council wanted to find out whether "we heard the community right".

"Byron Shire has many differing voices that make up a diverse and often very vocal community," he said. "A person in Suffolk Park may have a very different vision and goals to that of a rural resident in Myocum."

.

Ratepayers will soon receive a copy of the survey with their rates notice. Residents and business operators can also pick up a copy from a council stall at the Farmers Markets from the end of October to mid-November, or complete the survey online www.yoursaybyronshire.com.au.

The survey closes on Thursday November 10.
