Rene Meulensteen replaces Martin Jol at Fulham

FORMER Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has replaced Martin Jol as Fulham manager after the Dutchman was sacked yesterday.

The 3-0 defeat at West Ham on Saturday was the club's fifth consecutive league defeat and left it third last on the ladder

Meulensteen, who was Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant coach at United for 12 years, joined Fulham as Jol's assistant last month.

Jol is the third managerial casualty in the EPL this season after Ian Holloway left Crystal Palace and Sunderland axed Paolo Di Canio.
