Lismore Workers charge up the FFNC ladder
LISMORE Workers have the chance to join Byron Bay in second place, if the Redmen can claim an away win over Goonellabah in FFNC's premier league football tonight.
The 2012 major premiers are in good form after a 6-0 demolition of Casino on Saturday and with the return of Martin Kelleher and Duane Hoare to boost their line-up, Workers will start hot favourites.
Goonellabah is coming off a scoreless draw against Lennox Head on the weekend and will welcome back striker Dave Annetts after he missed the game through suspension.
But Hornets coach Gavin Whitney will have to shuffle his line-up, with sweeper John Eakin injured and talented young midfielder Jack Lyons in Newcastle with his school side Woodlawn College for their quarter final in the Bill Turner Cup.
While the Hornets have done enough to avoid relegation, they are out of contention for the semis and will be playing for pride alone.
"Workers are a very good side and we've got a massive mountain to climb in this one" Whitney said.
Kick off is at the earlier time of 6:00pm.
