Red Devils crash out of NRRRL race

The Byron Bay Red Devils crashed out of the NRRRL semi-finals race with a disappointing 32-16 loss to Ballina at Red Devil Park on Sunday.

The Devils had the better of the first half with two early tries and could have put the game away but for three forward passes.

They ended up sharing the spoils to go to the break locked at 8-all.

The second half was all Ballina with an early glut of possession brought on by some poor discipline from the Devils.

Ballina scored three unanswered tries, all of which were converted, to put the game beyond reach.

The Reggies have a week’s break after a close 24-22 win and will finish third on the ladder.

Cross-shire rivals Mullumbimby Giants also felt the harsh sting of defeat, going down to Northern United 40-22 at Lismore.

Mullum reserves lost a close game 40-38.

This weekend Mullumbimby are home to Murwillumbah and the Bay are away to Tweed Coast.
