THE Queesland Firebirds have recorded their first win in Super Netball, triumphing over West Coast Fever 60-47 on Friday night.

After a first-up draw with the Sunshine Coast Lightning and a loss to the GWS Giants, the Firebirds finally opened their account against the winless Fever in Perth.

Romelda Aitken scored 44 of 53 shots, while Gretel Tippett added 16 from 22 for the visitors.

New Firebirds recruit Erin Burger was strong on debut, with 24 feeds, two intercepts and two deflections for the South African international.

"How cool was that? She literally only had one session with us," Firebirds captain Gabi Simpson said of Burger.

The Firebirds host the Swifts next Friday, while the Fever will be looking for their first win against the Vixens in Melbourne.
