Rangers bid for McKay

BRISBANE Roar has confirmed it has been approached by Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers for the services of club captain Matt Mckay.

Currently on national duty with the Socceroos, McKay’s form for club and country prompted Rangers’ manager Ally McCoist to make a bid for the 28-year-old.

However, Roar officials have not disclosed the details of the offer and refuse to speculate on any deal until the midfielder returns from his commitments with the Socceroos.

McKay is regarded as one of the Roar’s most valuable assets – leading the club to its inaugural A-League title and an unbeaten run of 28 games last season.

Able to play wide on the left or in the centre of the park, McKay scored 3 goals for the Roar last term, earning a spot on the Socceroos march to the Asian Cup final.
