GUESTS will be begging for ringside seats at the Fraser Coast Show’s opening ceremony this year, with Governor-General Quentin Bryce set to officially open the show.
But dignitaries will not be the only entertainment at the ceremony on May 27.
A trio of parachutists will also be dropping in – landing on the centre ring track as part of the opening party’s celebrations.
When the high-flying daredevils come down to earth, there will be a heart-warming rendition of the national anthem.
“We are thrilled to have the Governor-General accept our invitation to officially open the 2011 Show,” Fraser Coast Show Society vice president Bill Hewitt said.
“Particularly with the natural disasters since the start of the year, now more than ever we appreciate Ms Bryce taking the time to meet with the Fraser Coast residents.”
After the show is officially declared open with an address by the Governor-General at 2pm, a party will be held for dignitaries and sponsors, Fraser Coast Show Society directors and Showgirl Quest entrants.
Guests will be treated to refreshments and a private performance by Robinsons Family Circus in the circus tent.
And for early birds who love to grab a bargain, prepaid gate entry tickets will be on sale soon at Kingstons Rural Supplies in Tinana and Langers Shoes in Adelaide St, Maryborough.
The Show Society will also be selling prepaid tickets at Woolworths Maryborough from May 3 to 7, Pialba Place in Hervey Bay from May 9 to 14 and Station Square in Maryborough from May 16 to May 21.
Tickets will also be available at the Show office at 22473 Bruce Highway in the Matilda South precinct.
Prices are available on the website at www.frasercoastshow.com.au.
The show runs May 26-28 at the Maryborough Showgrounds.
