Preschool group wants bigger slice of funding pie

EARLY Education NSW has called on both sides of government to boost pre-school funding by $4000 per student each year.

The group's A Bigger Slice of the Pie campaign says the increase would give three-year-olds access to two days' care a week, and three days per week for four-year-olds, with parents paying only $10 a day.

NSW currently spends $193 per child on preschool education, according to the Productivity Commission's latest report, which is less than any other state or territory in Australia.
