Predator stalks child at bus stop

IT'S every parent's worst nightmare and it has happened in suburban Coffs Harbour.

A young boy has been stalked while waiting for his school bus and a police manhunt is now under way to catch the predator.

Investigators said the 11-year-old was in Bolwarra Road at 7.55am on Tuesday when he was approached by the man, who asked him if he wanted a lift.

Thankfully the school bus turned up and the man took off.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged 40 to 50, with a slim build, grey hair, stubble on his face and was wearing large glasses.

He was driving a yellow Volkswagen Kombivan, which had curtains and black stripes down the side. The front spare wheel had the word Safari written on it.

If you saw the man or if you have any other information to help with the investigation, contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
