Ashley Cullen, 21, was the last of three prisoners still missing following a breakout at the Glen Innes earlier this year.

Fellow NSW North Coast inmates Zac Cree from Banora Point and Grafton's Reegan Freeburn were arrested in June.

The trio was discovered missing from the unit they shared at the minimum security jail on April 4.

Cullen, who grew up in Toormina, was serving four years and nine months for fraud and his part in a South Grafton home invasion where a man was tied up and a woman raped.

Following a tip-off to Crime Stoppers, police allegedly spotted Cullen in a Bathurst street on Tuesday afternoon.

After a short chase, Cullen was arrested and charged with escape lawful custody and resist police.

He fronted court on Wednesday and was returned to jail.
