Police officer bashed in front of friends

POLICE are investigating the brutal bashing and robbery of one of their own in Sydney's Hyde Park.

A 23-year-old off-duty constable was allegedly king hit when he and his two female friends were attacked by a group of strangers early Sunday.

As he fell to the ground, his police identification and wallet fell from his pocket.

One of his friends was allegedly punched to the ground by a 21-year-old female.

As the officer got up to help his friends he was allegedly assaulted again.

The group then left and a 19-year-old man allegedly threw the wallet and police identification down a nearby stormwater drain.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, his 21-year-old female friend was charged with common assault and a 15-year-old boy was released pending further inquiries.

The injured officer was treated for a fractured nose, hand and will require dental surgery for broken and loose teeth.
