Police detonate explosives found in suburban home

A STREET disturbance led police to the jackpot last night.

Queensland Police were called to a home on Currumburra Rd, Ashmore, and found an explosive device, taser, disassembled air rifle and ammunition about 9.30pm.

A man, 22, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and two counts of authority required to possess explosives.

Late last night police carried out a controlled detonation on the explosive device.

He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 9.

Police said investigations would continue.
