Police chase ends when stolen vehicle runs out of fuel
A TRIO of alleged car thieves was probably wishing they had stopped at a service station after a high-speed police chase through southern NSW ended when their stolen Queensland Holden ran out of fuel.
The car had allegedly been reaching speeds of up more than 200kmh as it was followed by highway patrol officers down the Hume Hwy near Goulburn on Friday morning.
A registration check allegedly revealed the car had been stolen from Queensland.
About 50kms was covered with police in hot pursuit until the car ran out of petrol and broke down near the Gunning exit.
The 34-year-old male driver allegedly was charged under Skye's Law for driving dangerously during a police pursuit.
His passengers, a 24-year-old woman and 32-year-old man, were charged with being carried in conveyance without the owner's consent.
