FORMER Playboy bunny Holly Madison has claimed her time in Hugh Hefner's house almost drove her to suicide.

Madison, 35, details life inside the notorious Playboy mansion in new book Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventure and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny set for release later this month.

In it, the now author and former model describes sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide, having been driven so low by the "back stabbing" and infighting of the mansion.

"Life inside the notorious mansion wasn't a dream at all-and quickly became her nightmare," the promotional material on the back of the book reads.

"After losing her identity, her sense of self-worth, and her hope for the future, Holly found herself sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide."

Madison became one of Hefner's 'girlfriends' in 2001, eventually becoming his "number one girl," before leaving the mansion to pursue her own interests.

In interviews surrounding the book's release, Madison - now married with a two-year-old daughter - has stated she has not spoken to Hefner in four years.

She has also said she wants her daughter Rainbow to read her book. "I want her to understand why I made the choices I made," Madison told US Magazine.

"And hopefully learn from them and not make stupid mistakes herself."
