BYRON Shire's local musicians raised another $3000 towards the restoration of the community centre's Steinway piano with their Young At Heart: A Tribute to Neil Young night last week.

Rick Fenn, Matt Bone, Tony Narvo and Pete Wilkins were joined on vocals by Ted Tilbrook, Julie Shanto Oliver, Guy Kachel, Colin Germano, Deide Vine, Ginny Cook, Jamie Ashforth and Chris Aronsten, who all contributed their time and talent to the sellout gig.

The successful event follows the Bob Dylan Birthday Bash held in May, which was driven by the same team of local volunteers, Paddy Raleigh and Lyn McCarthy. The two concerts were organised to help raise the $40,000 needed to ensure the Byron Theatre's Steinway piano is maintained at concert standard.

"The concerts held so far this year have raised $7000 towards a very worthwhile cause and we couldn't be happier with the response and the support from the local community," Paddy Raleigh said.
