Paine to lead CA XI against Ashes squad

AUSTRALIAN T20 wicketkeeper Tim Paine will lead some of the country's brightest young players in this month's four-day tour matches against the England Ashes squad.

Paine and NSW fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu are the only players with international experience in the 12-player squad.

The CA XI will face England in a four-day, day-night clash at the Adelaide Oval next week before the two teams head to Riverway Stadium in Townsville from November 15 for the tourists' last warm-up game ahead of the first Test at the Gabba.

"These guys now have a really exciting opportunity in front of them to showcase their skills against a world-class England side,” National Performance Program head coach Troy Cooley said.

"Tim Paine, as a player with international experience in all three formats of the game, will bring a lot of experience and leadership to the squad.”

CA XI: Jake Carder (WA), Jackson Coleman (VIC), Michael Cormack (SA), Daniel Fallins (NSW), Ryan Gibson (NSW), Nick Larkin (NSW), Simon Milenko (TAS), Tim Paine (TAS), Will Pucovski (VIC), Gurinder Sandhu (NSW), Jason Sangha (NSW), Matthew Short (VIC).
