Paddlers take up Oz Day challenge

For ocean lovers, next Tuesday’s second Australia Day Surfers Charity Challenge is an opportunity to mark our national day out in the surf.

Last year’s inaugural paddle exceeded expectations when 360 paddlers took up the challenge to paddle from Wategos Beach to Main Beach, raising more than $6000 for local charities in the process.

This year, organisers are tipping up to 600 paddlers will take part using longboards, shortboards, Nippers paddle boards, stand-up boards and racing skis.

There is a $10 entry fee and entry forms for the paddle are available from www.bbsacc.com.au which must be submitted on the day at Wategos during the registration period from 8 am to 9.30 am.

The paddle is due to start at 10 am with presentations and a barbecue at Main Beach from noon.
