The team, made up of players from Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Lismore and Coffs Harbour, were undefeated throughout the two-and-a-half day tournament.
Team captain Neil Cameron from Byron Bay said the grand final was thrilling.
“At full-time it was two-all so we went into extra time, with the first team to score being the declared the winner,” he said.
“After some mistakes from both sides, our team regained possession 20 metres out from the try line.
“The next play saw John Tulloch from Mullumbimby cross the line and score.”
Neil said the Far North Coast team had played together for about 10 years.
“Locally we play Oz Tag in the Lismore and Mullum competitions,” he said.
More than 80 teams competed in the tournament.
The winner’s shield was presented to the Far North Coast team by NRL referee boss Bill Harrigan.
Members of the FNC team include Neil Cameron, Ray Wakefield, Serge Brecard, John Tulloch, Noel Bailey, Ron Stone, Brian Hopwood, Dave McLean, Dave Evans, Jim Nolan, Wayne McInerney, Darryl Plater and Jeff Walsh.
