LISA Hyde is no jilted ex.
The Sunshine Coast-raised fashion designer, who was runner-up on last year's season of The Bachelor, credits her time on the reality dating show for meeting her current beau Tyson Mayr.
"I probably never would have met Tyson or been as confident in myself if I'd never done the show," Hyde told APN. "It really opened me up to talk about my feelings and helped me to go out and find someone."
Hyde and Mayr met at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Melbourne Cup Day when they judged fashions on the field.
She introduced him to her Noosa-based parents over the Christmas holidays.
"It usually takes me a little longer to introduce a guy to my parents," she said.
"I knew he was pretty special when I met him, so I didn't mind introducing him to mum and dad."
But now it's time for the rest of Australia to get to know the male model, who is part of the inaugural cast of I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! Australia.
The Gold Coast native is the least famous of the 10 celebs roughing it in the South African jungle on the reality show, which debuted last week.
"He's in his element at the moment," she said.
"The first night when they all walked into the campsite, everyone had their sad faces on and he had a big smile. He's probably slept in worse while travelling."
Mayr won Jauntaroo's Chief World Explorer competition last year, writes blog The Naked Traveller and is an ambassador for RainCatcher, a non-profit organisation which installs water filters in remote communities.
"It's not about getting famous for him," Hyde said.
"It's more about sharing what he does and raising awareness for the organisation he works for."
Hyde, who has been busy designing new collections for her online fashion boutique Shevoke, hopes to travel to Uganda to do charity work with Mayr later this year.
"I'm quite inspired by what he does," she said.
The 27-year-old beauty is also managing her boyfriend's social media accounts while he's on the show. "I keep uploading photos with no shirts on. It's not hard to look at him is it?" she laughed.
"The support has been lovely but there are a lot of girls asking him on dates."
I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! airs Sundays at 6.30pm and Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
