Spring Bluff proposal has couple's romance on track
ONE couple well and truly brought the romance back to train travel at the weekend.
While on the diesel-powered train trip to Spring Bluff for Carnival of Flowers, Wayne Wolff took the opportunity to propose to partner Lisa Hechtl.
As the train chugged through a tunnel, Mr Wolff retrieved the ring from his pocket, and was holding it when daylight lit the carriage again.
The couple met at Church in the Park at Laurel Bank Park.
Mr Wolff said he decided to pop the question about a week before the train ride.
"I purchased the ring I think on the Monday before, and then I devised how I was going to do it.
"I had the square box in my pocket and I thought I'd do it through a tunnel on the way down.
"So I dug into my pocket, pulled out the ring, opened it up and when we came out of the blackness, I had the ring in my hands and asked Lisa to marry me."
Ms Hechtl said the wedding would be in less than two months time, hopefully in Laurel Bank Park where they met.
"I think I laughed first, because it was so unexpected, but then said yes," she said of the proposal.
"It was lovely. Although, it's a little bit of a blur, I can't remember much after that."
Amy Perrin: My fiancé proposed to me on my birthday (last Wednesday) at Sizzlers with our family and friends. After everyone sung happy birthday he sent me a video message, it was an LED message that goes across the screen asking me to marry him and by the time the question came across the screen he was down on one knee with ring in hand.
Melly K Sinton: My hubby took me to Coffs Harbour for a holiday. No one else on the beach we got ankle deep in the water and he was still talking then dropped on his knee and asked me. Of course I screamed yes yes yes. He picked me up and spun me around just the two of us on a beautiful beach, perfect sunset, all emotional - we both had happy tears.
Selina Dromgold: Rick Mutzelburg organised with my ballroom dancing teacher to do his proposal in the middle of our social dance class last month :) I was shocked and completely surprised! I will never forget that moment when he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him, giving me an engraved lock to lock to the love fence and lose the key in Paris.
Jodie Sweeting: My fiancé proposed 2 weeks ago. He took me up to Picnic Point, got on one knee next to the waterfall. It was beautiful!
Suzanne Flesser: My hubby proposed to me on my 21st birthday in 2000. We met thru the chronicle classifieds personals in 1999. I never dreamed that's how I'd meet my true love that way. We have a special relationship and I wouldn't change it for anything!!
Emma Hassett: My husband took me on a walk through the garden of his house... He turned it into a timeline of our relationship (with dates of important events of our relationship written on pieces of paper with photos and other little bits and pieces). He proposed to me in the sunroom and then after I said yes, he drove me to Darling Heights School where there was a helicopter waiting to take us to Dalby so that I wouldn't be late for my 21st birthday party.
