UPDATE: One person is confirmed dead after their blue dual cab ute rolled on the Rainbow Beach Rd about 2pm on Wednesday

The accident occurred on a windy section of the road 3km west of Queen Elizabeth Dr, and the vehicle has come to rest on its side in heavy bushland at the side of the road.

Police said the vehicle travelling along Rainbow Beach Road left the roadway and hit a culvert before crashing into a tree.

Police attended and located a 39-year-old man and sole occupant of the vehicle deceased at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.

EARLIER : A person is believed dead in a single vehicle accident on the Rainbow Beach Rd.

Emergency services are en route to the scene of the crash, which happened 3km west of the Queen Elizabeth Dr turn-off to Cooloola Cove just after 2pm.
