Dean fails to persuade public after X Factor deadlock

OMAR Dean reckons the public vote is a fair way to decide who says and who goes on The X Factor.

The 20-year-old was eliminated from the reality singing show last night after a divided judges panel forced a deadlock.

"I think it was more fair to go to a deadlock," Dean told APN.

"At least they left it in the public's hands. The public watch this show and they want to watch their favourite contestants. I'm happy I didn't get voted off by the judges."

He lost the public vote to Redfoo's only remaining singer Jiordan Tolli.

Dean said he had a "feeling" he would be in the bottom two.

"Yesterday I wasn't feeling it all day," he said.

"I was feeling really bland, just numb to everything.

"I didn't worry too much about being vocally perfect. I treated it as the last time I was going to sing."

Dean's elimination was somewhat overshadowed by the announcement that British boy band One Direction will perform on the X Factor grand final.

"I'm not going to lie, I did kind of feel like a fan boy on the inside," Dean said.

"I am a fan of One Direction. They're like us; they started on The X Factor and they're the example of the hard work I want to do after the show. I want to follow their footsteps."

He hopes to sign with a record label as a pop and RnB artist.

"I'm just waiting to see what happens. I'm hoping there's some interest from labels," he said.

"I really want to make a hit single. I want something to be out there in the charts and do as many gigs as possible."

With just five acts left on the show, Dean tips Brisbane's Dami Im and fellow Victorian Taylor Henderson as the top contenders.

"Dami is so consistent; she can't be beaten with her vocals," he said.

"And for Taylor, it's his attitude and his voice is so unique. That could possibly help him win. He's really down-to-Earth, like he's just jamming in a pub or with his family."

An X Factor Top 5 national tour has also been announced. Tickets ($79) go on sale this Thursday for the tour, which starts in Newcastle on November 23 and plays the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on November 29 and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 30.
