AIRBAG problems have led to some models of the Nissan Pulsar and the Nissan Patrol to be recalled.

The N16 Pulsar was sold between 2000-2006, while the Y61 Patrol was available between 1997-2013.

VINs are between JN1CBAN16A0018390 and JN1TFSY61A0330012.

Vehicles are being recalled because "the passenger airbag inflators may allow moisture to enter, causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate".

"Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag or metal fragment scatter, which may pose a hazard to the occupants of the vehicle," the Product Safety Australia statement said.

Once parts availability is confirmed, owners of affected vehicles will be advised to contact their Nissan dealer to arrange for replacement of the front passenger airbag inflator. The replacement will be at no cost to owners.

The LF Hyundai Sonata fitted with a panorama sunroof also has issues.

Its sunroof wind deflector plate was not secured correctly during assembly and may detach while vehicle is in motion and interfere with the sunroof glass.

It affects vehicles with the VIN KMHE341*BFA017122 ~ KMHE341*BFA163661

"The deflector plate may detach from vehicle and become an obstacle to other road users. The deflector plate may interfere with the sunroof causing the glass to shatter. Above scenarios may increase the risk of a vehicle crash," the warning statement said.

Owners should return the vehicle to their authorised Hyundai dealership to have the vehicle inspected by verification of VIN and visual inspection of the part installation. If the vehicle is affected it will be repaired free of charge.
