New creative writing courses
LOCAL author Candida Baker will be offering new creative writing courses for women - Just Write - on February 9 and 10 in Newrybar.
“Last year was a big year for me,” said the Newrybar-based writer.
“I was awarded by MA in Art History, my children’s book Belinda the Ninja Ballerina was published and I signed a contract for my next book.
“But also, perhaps most importantly I helped a friend, Anna Middleton, edit her memoir to the point where we are now submitting it to publishers.”
After those recent literary successes, Ms Baker decided to reignite the idea of giving creative writing courses for women.
“I love helping women get in touch with their creative side,” she said.
“Where I live in the hinterland, surrounded by amazing landscape, is an inspirational place to come up with ideas.”
Ms Baker recently won the Elements of Byron people’s choice award for the ending of Lisa Walker’s short story and is also the author of 17 published books, including novels, short stories, non-fiction and children’s books.
Just Write starts on February 9 and 10, with a choice of Tuesday mornings or Wednesday afternoons at Newrybar.
