Mystery over two unrelated murders of women in Sydney

HOMICIDE detectives are working on opposite sides of Sydney to solve the murders of two women found dead in suburban homes in the past 24 hours.

While unrelated, the murders of both women remain a mystery.

One victim, a young woman identified on Facebook as "Nadine", was stabbed to death and left at the foot of a stairwell in a western Sydney unit late Monday.

Police discovered her body after responding to a fire at the front of the unit.

A man wearing dark clothing was seen leaving the St Mary's unit block but police are still trying to understand why the woman was in an unfamiliar area, 40kms from her home town.

In Sydney's northern suburbs, the body of a 32-year-old woman was also found on Monday.

Police were called to the Mosman unit about 1.45pm.

A post mortem will be carried out this week but the woman's death is being treated as suspicious.

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
