Muster to throw up a dose of humour

THE countdown is on for this year's Optus National Music Muster and with only two weeks to go, the program is shaping up to include not only Australia's music greats, but also some of the country's best comedians.

The Sit Down Comedy Club are kicking off the laughs on Friday night with Mike Bennet as MC, along with Melinda Buttle and Andrew Nason major highlights of the two hour show.

“It's fantastic to have the Sit Down Comedy Club coming to this year's Muster, with comedians that are already making their mark on the Australian and international stage”, Artist Co-ordinator, Marylou Goodall said.

The comedy will last all weekend at the Muster, with the grand Comedy Under the Big Top event being held on Saturday August 28.

Making their debut appearances, Claire Hooper from Channel 10's ‘Good News Week' (left) and world-renowned stand up comedian Wil Anderson (right) will join the Comedy line-up for a host of laughs throughout the evening.

A regular guest at the Sit Down Comedy Club, Melinda Buttle was discovered when she became a national finalist in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Raw Comedy Competition in 2008.

Another familiar face in the scene, Mike Bennett spent the last 15 years at Warner Brothers Movie World as Mad Mike, providing the warm-up for the Police Academy Stunt Show, leading on to his achievement of the Big ‘E' award for Best Atmosphere/Street Performer in theme parks across the world.

“It's going to be a massive weekend of laughs, music, activities and fun!” Artist Co-ordinator, Marylou Goodall said.

The 2010 Music Muster is on from August 24-29 at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park.
