Murder trial against Coffs man adjourned

THE case against a Coffs Harbour man, charged over the New Year's Day murder of Port Macquarie father Peter Martyn, returned to court this week.

Chad Misiepo, 33, was allegedly on parole for other offences when he fatally stabbed Mr Martyn during new year celebrations in the Port Macquarie suburb of Flynn's Beach.

A five day man-hunt ended with his arrest at Toormina, where he had allegedly been avoiding a warrant issued in Sydney over an unrelated assault at Sylvania.

Police will allege Mr Misiepo tried to run from police before he was apprehended on Sawtell Rd.

A crime scene was also established at a home at Boambee East.

The case was before the Port Macquarie court on Thursday and was adjourned until next month.
