Brothers charged with murder

TWEED brothers Benjamin and Andrew Biffin will come back before the Lismore Local Court just before Christmas to face murder charges over the death of Luke Ogilvie at his Bilambil home in March.

Benjamin, 30, and Andrew Biffin, 28, are charged with the murder of Mr Ogilvie between 6.30am on March 25 and 6.30am on March 26 at Urliup Road.

The Biffin’s are also charged with robbery in company – stealing Mr Ogilvies’ Harley Davidson motorbike; and destroying his house by fire.

Two other Tweed Heads men, Graham Keys Smith, 27, and Nicholas McCulloch, 24, face murder and robbery in company charges, with McCulloch also charged over the house fire.

All four cases were mentioned in the Lismore Local Court this week, with the Crown prosecutor describing police documents on the crime scene as ‘lengthy’.

Paint samples taken from a car along with hair samples were yet to be analysed. It was alleged by the Crown that when the alleged offenders fled the home of Mr Ogilvie their car collided with the victim’s car leaving a paint scraping.

Fingerprint material is also outstanding, along with the post mortem report on Mr Ogilvie.
