Mullum to Bruns paddle program

A PROGRAM of fun for the whole family has been organised for this Sunday’s Mullum to Bruns Paddle.

Music co-ordinator Andrew Sinclair has put together a great line-up of local musicians who will perform in the Soundshell from form 9am until 2pm.

The morning program includes Byron High School, Artistic Licence, Shea O’Toole, Maddy and Kai, Hide the Potato and Back Deck Music.

The afternoon’s entertainment will be provided by the Brando-lini family, Alice Blue and Ilona Harker.

“We really appreciate the community spirit shown by the musicians by performing for free to support this fundraising event,” Andrew said.

Free stand-up paddle hire and lessons by OzSUP will be on offer from 10am to 2pm.

Blue Sky Outdoor Experts will have about 20 kayaks available so that you can get some tips on paddling if you’ve never been in a kayak.

Or the kids can enjoy some free paddle fun.

The barbecues and drinks run by the Brunswick Surf Lifesaving Club, Volunteer Marine Rescue and Visitor Centre and Juices 2U will be open early to cater for the hungry and thirsty paddlers as they arrive in from the big paddle.

Or if you prefer a cappuccino or to dine alfresco, please consider supporting the cafes who have supported this fundraising event – Riverside Cafe, Happy Dolphin, Sandbar, Cino Bambino and KCs Takeaway, all within easy walking distance.

“The Mullum to Bruns Paddle is an important fundraising event for our groups,” co-ordinator Penny Fuller said.

“There are three chances to win state-of-the-art kayaks, holidays and more, so please dig deep. The prizes are amazing and the odds are exceptional. Tickets and ducks will be on sale at each of the Surf Lifesaving, Marine Rescue and Visitor Centre stalls on the day.”

Six lucky entrants’ wristbands will be drawn out of the barrel to win great prizes, including a kayak from BLA and Blue Sky Experts.

Be sure to put your wristband in the box when you exit at the Scout Hall and be at the Soundshell at 2pm for the draw as entrants must be present to win.

Kayaks from BLA/ Blue Sky Experts and Challenge Kayak Australia are offered as first prizes in the raffle and the Caltex 300 Duck Race respectively, along with holidays and vouchers.

The raffle is drawn at 2pm and the duck race awards presented after the race at 2.30pm.
