Pearce back in Australia to answer Cronk questions

MITCHELL Pearce touched down in Sydney late last night after a US holiday and must now decide if he can bring himself to remain at the Sydney Roosters and play along side the man who stole his prized No. 7 jersey, Cooper Cronk.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and white cap, a tanned Pearce was asked by TV reporters if he could work with Cronk, and said: "Obviously, yeah, Cooper is a player you could play with for sure, he's an Australian halfback.''

Pearce, however, has no shortage of rivals, led by Cronulla and Newcastle, hoping to lure him away from Bondi next season with the promise of being their starting halfback.

Before that can happen, Roosters supremo Nick Politis must have a change of heart and cut Pearce loose with still two years remaining on his current deal.

Pearce has another week of holidays before returning for pre-season training at the Roosters.

He enjoyed a break with partner Zoe Grant who popped up in photos with Pearce in New York, where the pair caught up with Roosters enforcer Dylan Napa.

Whether the NSW Origin halfback stays or goes will impact on five-eighth Luke Keary, who has been offered an extension at the Roosters, but reportedly has big-money interest from the New Zealand Warriors, as well as Blake Green who is also keen to take up a rich offer from the Warriors, but cannot do so until Manly find a replacement - and someone of the calibre like Pearce.
