'Miss you more than ever': Husband’s emotional tribute

Jake Coates | Facebook

A GRIEVING husband has paid an emotional tribute to his late wife on what would have been the young couple's first wedding anniversary.

Jake Coates met his childhood sweetheart Emmy when they were both 11 years old.

They dated for years before drifting apart at university, but they got back together while he was working as a doctor in Sydney and she was teaching in London.

They travelled across the world to see each other, until she became seriously sick.

He raced home to England to be by her side and proposed just weeks later.

Shortly before their wedding, the 30-year-old received the devastating news she had thyroid cancer, which had already spread to her spine, lungs and bones.

She passed away in June.
