AMERICAN alternative political rocker Michael Franti will hold a joint benefit night in the lead up to Bluesfest at Byron Bay’s Great Northern Hotel.

Franti will donate money from the concert to the disaster relief funds of the Queensland floods, Christchurch earthquake and the Japanese tsunami and earthquake.

The benefit night was announced by Bluesfest producer Peter Noble.

The evening will include an international collective of musicians from the USA, Jamaica, Canada and Australia that will perform semi-acoustic sets closing with an all-star jam that will surely be of legendary proportions.

The musicians include Luciano, The Aggrolites, Nicky Bomba, Warrior King, Kim Churchill, Bonnie Casey.

Tickets are available from the Great Northern.
