Messi the man for Barcelona

A LIONEL Messi double, including a dramatic injury-time penalty, has helped Barcelona to a 3-2 win over Valencia.

It was the 10th season in a row the Argentine has scored against Valencia, and the win takes Barca top of La Liga.

But the victory came at a cost, with captain Andres Iniesta suffering a serious knee injury.

Iniesta was stretchered off after a tackle by Enzo Perez and will miss the Champions League clash with Manchester City on November 1.

The Spanish international could also miss the rest of the group games in Europe after damaging knee ligaments.

Luis Enrique's side will also be missing Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba through injury for the City game.
