FOOTBALL: Melbourne Victory has made a statement of intent by signing Socceroos-capped duo Terry Antonis and Dino Djulbic.

Antonis has signed until 2020, after joining from Dutch club VVV Venlo, while Djulbic attended last week's win over Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park, having returned from a stint with Malaysian club Felda United.

Antonis, 24, is one of the most skilful modern day Australian players, but again struggled for game-time in Europe after his initial stint with Greek club PAOK.

Djulbic, 34, is a no-nonsense stopper who reunited with Rhys Williams after spending last season together at Perth Glory, playing several times as a central defensive pairing.

Antonis is yet to realise the limits of his considerable potential.

Capped twice by the Socceroos, Djulbic replaces James Donachie, who is recovering from a torn quad, while Thomas Deng is away with the Olyroos.

"Dino and Terry are experienced footballers and just the type of players we needed to sign at this point of the season," Victory coach Kevin Muscat said.

"We've developed a really balanced squad, with plenty of competition, and we're well placed to tackle a particularly busy period that will also include the Asian Champions League."
