Matty put his heart on his sleeve, declaring his love for Georgia Love but unfortunately she did not feel the same, instead choosing Lee Elliott.

Keeping an open mind and an open heart, Matty said: "I feel so privileged that I've been given the opportunity to be The Bachelor. Without question, the most exciting part is the chance to meet the girl I'm going to spend the rest of my life with."

According to Channel 10, Matty is looking for a kind, intelligent, easy-going woman who shares his passion for the outdoors and the ocean.

Very family orientated, Matty is one of five siblings, a proud uncle to his sister's first child George, and eager to start a family of his own.

Matty said: "I'm so excited about the prospect of settling down. Timing is such a crucial factor when it comes to making this commitment and I know wholeheartedly, that there's nothing I want more."

The fifth season of The Bachelor will air on Ten later this year.
