Massage your way to well-being

HERE'S a good reason to treat yourself to a pamper sesh.

Massage One owner Melissa Potts says anyone can benefit from a massage treatment popular with athletes and post-operation patients.

She says lymphatic drainage is a form of very light massage that encourages lymph flow in the body.

The relaxing process involves a gentle whole body massage that calms the nervous system with the goal of strengthening the body's immune system.

"Our lymphatic system is located directly beneath our skin, so when our lymphatic system is stimulated by massage, toxins are eliminated and our body is able to work more efficiently. This means our immune system is able to protect and supply our bodies more readily with nutrients,” she says.

Melissa says lymphatic drainage therapy is recommended for people prone to or recovering from sore throats, colds, infections, ongoing fatigue, excess fluid retention and low immunity.

The transformational massage technique may aid in detoxification, reducing inflammation and swelling, fluid retention or oedema, cellulite reduction and boost metabolism.

Melissa says she's been seeing promising results.

"There are so many benefits that come post massage including a deeper and more restful night's sleep, increased energy levels, weight loss, increased focus, noticeably reduced swelling and headaches, and the development of clear and even skin tone.”
