Marty in line for award

Ewingsdale Paralympic skiing star Marty Mayberry has been named a finalist in one of the State’s most prestigious sporting awards.


The award, the ClubsNSW Male Athlete of the Year, will be announced tonight (Nov 18) in Sydney as part of the annual New South Wales Institute of Sport awards.


The award nomination has capped off a memorable year for Marty.


He won silver in the men’s standing downhill at the Vancouver Winter Paralympic Games, one of only two Australian athletes to win medals at the Games, and he also finished the year ranked number two in the world in standing downhill.


“I am very happy to be a finalist and it is really rewarding to be recognised for my achievements,” Marty said.
